Ahmed Trabelsi, MD the Chair of MEACO Prevention of Blindness Committee was awarded
- International Blindness Prevention Award during the recent AAO-MEACO joint meeting in Chicago, USA on 17 October 2010. Established in 1992, the International Blindness Prevention Award honors individuals who have made significant contributions to the prevention of blindness or the restoration of sight around the world.
- Dr. Trabelsi will also be awarded the G. B. Biette International Award at the 2nd International Symposium on Low Vision Rehabilitation and Visual Ability, which is organized by IAPB Italy, and will take place in December 2010.

Head of Ethics committee Dr. Manal Bouhaimed was awarded the AAO secretariat award at the recent AAO-MEACO Joint Meeting that took place in Chicago, USA. The Secretariat Award recognizes ophthalmologists for special contributions to the Academy and ophthalmology. Dr. Bouhaimed is an Assistant Professor of Ophthalmology and Medical Ethics at Kuwait University
